Plan your trip to the Quartzite Shows....

Do not miss the
Quartzsite show...
Jan. 1 – Feb. 28, 2010

Quartzsite, Arizona, barely 20 miles east of the Colorado river, on I-10, may be the RV boondocking capital of the world, and the town has been a rockhound’s dream since the 1960s. Quartzsite has indeed become a mecca to well over a million visitors and hundreds of vendors for rocks, gems, mineral specimens and fossils during the town’s famous two-month-long gem show and swap meet every January and February. From its humble beginnings the now-massive Quartzsite show has grown to RV-epic proportions, with vendors offering everything from a Navajo rug to a new turbo-charged RV engine. Admission is free as is camping on the nearby government lands, where RVers claim a bit of dusty desert soil for their very own. Quartzsite is HOT and folks are scarce in the summer when the temp tops 100 degrees as often as not. In the winter, when the town of a few hundred permanent residents swells to tens of thousands at a time (most in RVs), the temperature is typically mild with sunny skies, so if you show up bring shorts and suntan lotion.
